Open Question: How long do you think the tax “cuts” will last?
I know that a lot of people come here for entertainment, but I also know that a good portion of you are intelligent people. In the last year, we have been hit with a $4T+ credit card bill authorized by our government. Dems have been saying “what about our kids” for the past 8 years and reps are perhaps catching on. So knowing that we the taxpayers have to pay the bill, how long do you think our “low” taxes will last? Do you think that we will pay it all (or a good portion) of the bill off by the time Obama’s leaves office (which should eliminate the possibility of raised taxes in the future), or do you think it will passed on to the next administration much like it has been for the last half century? From my point of view, I feel like we are (have been) setting up what I like to call a “Bubble Government.” Much like the housing bubble, there are limits to how far it can go before it bursts. Its the thought that when/if it bursts that has a lot of people worried.
Part 2 of my question is, in your personal lifestyle, do you carry debt? Is it a lot, little, other? You decide what you personally consider a lot, little, etc.
Also, if you wouldn’t mind giving your affiliation and age it would be appreciated.
In closing, this is NOT a blame game. I would just like your insight. Hopefully someone in power will see your intelligent answers and apply it to help us all. Thanks.
Schmitz – Keep up the good work on keeping yourself debt free.
Jonny – I agree with you that it will eventually trickle down to the middle class. Its estimated that there are 1M millionaires in the country. That only work out to $100B if we took all their money (granted there are people with significantly more $ than that).
Shera – good solid answer, thank you.
Open Question: I am over $40,000 in credit card debt, what agency can help me eliminate or consolidate all debt.?
There are so many agency out there, cannot decide which one will be more beneficial or helpful.
Thank You
Voting Question: What is the best decision for eliminating my debt (student)?
Ok so I got a student loan in August. It wasn’t enough so I got a credit card with citibank that has no interest till this June. I thought I would be able to pay it off by June but I wasn’t and still have about 1,500 on the card. With June around the corner I don’t know what to do. Should I get another credit card that doesn’t have interest for 6 months and put it on that or try for another student loan. I just got a new job the other day that pays better than my current one but I have no idea how long it would take me to pay off that money. And if I get another loan do I have to try with a different place since I got one in August? Please any advice other than debt is bad and shame on you is greatly appreciated.
Ok yes I know credit cards are bad. Again I’m asking for help not a lecture. I’m a student I used it on food, internet, and a water bill. The real question is should I try to pay it off with my job money which I’m not sure how much I will be making or get another student loan to pay it off by June.
