Open Question: I know my neighbor is cheating on his wife without her knowledge, so suppose I bribe him for money?
And say that for $5000, I won’t tell his wife just how much of a ladies man he is. Think I’d be getting an easy paycheck? And yes I’m aware it’s extortion, but if he calls the police then it’s his word against mine, and the affair would come to pass with his wife.
Sure it sounds cruel, but I’m a capitalist here, He pays the money and anything he has done or will do in the future, I take to my grave. Think of it as a service of secrecy.
Open Question: Isn’t all this spending really like “the you can pay us now or pay us later” commercial?
I mean the US government used to spend a good chunk of money on its people and infrastructure and an aggressive space program (we walked on the moon like 3 over 3 decades ago ), used that have bridges that were assumed to be safe just because they were american bridges, we used to throw money around and give it away to other countries without thinking twice while still having balanced budgets. But alas, the spending on our own country and our own people has been neglected. Think of it as having that car that you never maintained or that house that you never did anything to for decades and finally eventually you know whats bound to happen…yep..when you have to do something, it will be a major emergency and you truly will wind up paying way more for the emergencies than you would have doing routine maintenance.
Essentially thats what Republican ideology says..its says if its for the american people its pork and its bad and it should not be done..and to make sure not enough things get done, they advocate tax cuts ..especially the ones that drop the top margins for the highest income earners or the ones that are estate taxes or capital gains..why those? easy..thats whre the big bucks come from. And when you eliminate the big bucks, you achieve 2 main things..one you fatten your own pocket and two you make sure government has as little money as possible to take care of the commons which eventually deteriorate.
