I’ve got a ****load of student loan that I have yet to pay off, but I am planning a trip this summer to go back pack across Europe! I figure the best time to travel and have fun is while I am still young (im in my 20′s!) but is it okay to indulge myself on what is essentially borrowed money with a monstrous interest rate? i dont see why not cuz everyone else seems to be doing it and i am all about a fun time!
Open Question: If Globalization has been such a boon for American society, why do men today make far less than their fathers?
(and when I say that, I’m comparing salaries in Real Dollar terms).
I don’t want to overly generalize, but in our fathers’ and grandfathers’ time, there seemed to be a lot more stability and responsibility in the job market. It seemed to be that things like employer health insurance, maternity leave, and job security were far better back then than now.
Now, people are being asked to work on weekends, both parents are not only working to survive but have to take on more than 1 job, twentysomethings can lose their job in a snap, and there’s credit card/ student loans/ mortgage/ insurance/ etc debts.
It just seems that people are working harder and harder for fewer and fewer drops of a proverbial well. Does anyone else get a sense of this?
